glowy flawless face tutorial and ootd

hi girls! its been awhile :( and i know i constantly say this, but now that high school and graduation is over, im officially on summer..that means new and more frequent blog posts!

today i did a tutorial for how i achieve glowy airbrushed skin :)
DISCLAIMER: excuse the messy brows (my appts today!), the bad under eye circles (my concealers in my moms purse), and the foundation on the towel :)

i start off with a bare face which has been moisturized with jojoba oil...i let that sink in for about 5 minutes (expect a post on jojoba oil soon:)
i then take my sonia kashuk highlighting brush and dip it into my favorite foundation atm (maybelline 24 hour foundation in nude)

i stipple (dot) it onto my face and then blend it in circles til my whole face is covered

i let it sit for a few minutes...i find that this helps it look more natural. it also lets it dry a bit before i apply my powder..
i use an essence of beauty powder brush and my maybelline dream matte powder in light 4-5 and buff that into my skin

then, i take my sugar kabuki brush and my nyc bronzer in sunny and pick some up.
i lightly brush this onto my cheeks, my forehead, my chin, and on the sides of nose.

i then take my lovely e.l.f. duo in bronzed/beach (i believe!) and take the peachy pink side (amazing orgasm dupe, i lovee this) and apply it to my apples. i take whatever excess is on the brush and sweep it up lightly towards my temples. i used an old lancome blush brush for this.

next, i use my favorite favorite highlighter of all my time- MAC hush! this product will definitely be getting it's own post, im obsessed :)
i take my middle finger and rub it on my apples up towards my temples.

and youre done! i spray my face with a plasma 21 spray (fix+ dupe) to help my face from looking cakey as well as locking in the look.

SWATCHES: MAC cool reserve nail polish and NYC dark brown waterproof eye pencil

MAC Cool Reserve:
I loved the color of this nail polish when I first got it. I thought it was edgy and unique; kind of like Sephora's Metro Chic, but more purple. Since I was on a kick of that smokey purple-gray color (I've been using MAC Shale eyeshadow for the past few days nonstop), I decided to pick up this polish when MAC launched it.
Now the color just seems sort of blah (might be my skin tone: NC30. i think it'd look more flattering on paler skin tones..), and the formula is awful! I don't know if you can tell in the photos, but the nail polish will apply streak-free and near perfect looking and then once it dries, i look in the sun or outdoors and there are random spots that are sheerer where it looks i barely polished when i did.
Because of that, i would not recommend this.
Swatches:

NYC bronzer review

After hearing tons of raves about NYC bronzer, I decided to try it out. for $3, i figured i should try it, esp since my sephora bronzer was getting a little too orange now that im becoming paler with fall upon us.

I do like this a lot so far, but am not completely wowed by it like everybody else seems to be. its a good bronzer, but not amazing. i need to find a good technique for this too! with a kabuki, its too heavy, but im liking it with my powder brush. im gonna try it with my skunk tomorrow and see how that workss :)
this one is in 720a matte sunny- i didnt see any other colors so i grabbed this one.

NYX Milk

I picked this up from ulta this week
(the left is the pencil before it was smudged out, on the right it is smudged out)

I use a thin layer of this and apply it on my lid OVER a base. it helps my colors POP and become so much more vibrant! i love this and will pick up other colors within the next few weeks :)

what are your favorite colored bases? paintpots, nyx jumbo pencils, etc? im looking for some new ones :)
